In light of UCONN’s lost to Louisville last week, Geno’s quote after the game and this question I got ask on my FB page,
“Ok settle a debate how would a typical high school team from say Maine do against a UConn team I say lose by a million my son says he thinks they could keep it close go now ????”
I wanted to give you my thoughts on why UCONN lost 2x this season so far..
1. Everyone is getting better!
UCONN has set the bar high for the last 20 years and has maintain excellence that we take for granted.
Geno has made other coaches better. If you want to compete with UCONN, coaches needed to get better; better in coaching, better players, better at recruiting, and put a huge emphasis on strength and conditioning
This is the first year in a long, long time that at least 6 teams have a chance at national championship.
This is awesome and amazing for the game – thank Geno and UCONN for that
2. UCONN is no longer invisible
I feel like Norte Dame was the first team and maybe, Stanford that actually thought going into a game against UCONN, they were going to win
The invisibility for the most part is gone, there are multiple teams that think they could beat UCONN and yes, they could
But to say a high school from Maine could beat UCONN, is a huge stretch. These players are great competitors and work hard everyday. I think we forger that Baylor and Louisville are great teams too!
Love them or hate them – UCONN has changed the game for the better and we need to respect them
I would love to know your thoughts,
Your friend and coach,
