How was your weekend?
My friend, Erica Suter and Dave Gleason put a article together titled ” Maybe You Don’t Know What Player Development Means “
You can read the full article HERE!
But I wanted to touch on a few key points that Erica touches on that all coaches should consider
- Technical (skills technique, passing, shooting, 1v1 moves)
- Tactical (formations, positional roles, movement off ball, team identity)
- Physical (speed, strength, power, agility, conditioning, balance)
- Mental (confidence, resilience, ability to overcome adversity)
- Social (teamwork, support and motivation for others)
As a coach, we all know you take care of the technical and tactical, but do you include the other 3?
This is where working together with a strength and conditioning is so important as I think a strength coach will blend together the physical, mental and social
I am huge believer that strength training builds an athletes confidence, resiliency and just makes them tougher to handle life.
Have you ever seen a team workout together?
The energy is infectious and the support is amazing, this is a perfect team building experience
Coaches, reach out and work together with a strength and conditioning coach
I know all coaches are looking for a competitive advantage with all the competition out there, especially this AAU season
Adding in the “physical” part will get your players stronger and handle the long and tough AAU season
Do you need help implementing a strength and conditioning program this AAU season?
Let me know – it is easier than you think to add in some strength movements that will
have a huge impact on player development
Your friend and coach,
