How to Stay Healthy This Basketball Season
Whether you are a coach or player, what are you doing to stay healthy this season?
Have you added in the in season strength program you downloaded?
Coaches, are you having your players foam roll, dynamically stretch and do some form on strength work?
Athletes, are you foam rolling and stretching to restore your movement, stay healthy and do some form of strength (squats, push-ups, lunges, pull ups) to maintain your strength?
You see, during the season, the body takes a beating.
The charlie horses, floor burns, muscles soreness, etc. Are you foam rolling to get those “knots” out and restore movement?
Players wear ankle braces or tape that locks the ankles down. Are you working on mobility drills to restore the movement in the ankles and to help reduce ankle sprains and rolls?
This is why an in season program is so important. Yes, we need to make sure we maintain strength, but the main emphasis is to restore and maintain quality movement patterns so our athletes stay healthy and can perform at their best
I would love to know what you are doing this in season?
If you are doing none of the above, I would love to know why too 🙂
Coaches, do you need me to design for you an in season strength program you can do with your team at practice? Or design something for them to do outside of practice?
Athletes, do you need a program to do this in season to maintain your strength and compete? We all know the game of basketball keeps getting more physical.
Either start strength training and get stronger or be left behind!
Have a strong week!
