You have heard me say this before, but it’s worth repeating; girl basketball players need to be strength training in-season and frankly all year long.
There should be a couple of breaks, 2-3 weeks after the season is over and probably a total of 4-5 weeks during the summer but other than, girls should be strength training
I put together 5 bodyweight basketball exercises:
2. Squat to Press
3. Jump Squats
4. Side Lunge
5. Dragon Lunge
Watch the 1 minute video I put together to demo all 5 exercises
Have a strong week,
Your friend and coach,
PS: Whatever you are ready, here are 4 of my most popular programs for athletes, coaches and parents:
1. The Complete Women’s Basketball Strength and Conditioning Program
The Complete Women’s Basketball Strength and Conditioning Program addresses a specific need in girl basketball players. There is nothing out there on the market designed by a former standout division 1 girls basketball player that specifically addresses the strength and conditioning needs of girl basketball players in regards to pre-season, in-season and post-season. If you want to get stronger, faster, quicker and stay injury free and prevent ACL injuries, it’s all here for you.
You check out the program HERE!
2. 10 Strength, Skill and Conditioning Training Sessions
Let’s be honest, the game of basketball is a more physical game than it is even been. As a coach, if your goal is to have your players, play in college you better have some form of strength and conditioning in your practices
I know, you think you don’t have time, you don’t have the budget to buy “equipment” to train, or you don’t know what to do with your team
That’s why I put together 10 body weight training sessions that you can do right on the court
All 10 training sessions have strength and a skill component and if you pace the session properly, you have a cardio training interval effect
You can grab your done for you training sessions HERE
3. Online Programming for Athletes or Team
The programs you download and videos I share is a great resource to start from. But it is just the beginning, if you want me to guide you through your season and design a personalized strength program for you, just reply and let’s discuss
Remember, I was a 2X Gatorade High School Player in NH and played D1 of a full scholarship. I have played at a high level and can help you guide and be a valuable resource to you
