How was your weekend?
Yesterday, I was at Mohegan Sun watching game 3 of the WNBA finals, the Connecticut Sun vs the Washington Mystics
I love watching basketball “live”, especially the WNBA and college basketball, not so much with the NBA 🙂
Watching the game yesterday, I had a few observations..
1. Attend these games and support these women
Parents, coaches, bring your daughters and teams to watch these women play. Not only are you supporting women/girls, but show your support for equal pay
Buying a ticket, wearing the gear, only helps the women with equal pay to play
Also, it’s some intense and high quality basketball
And for those they say the game is boring, go watch a game live, then talk to me
2. Rode Models
Let your girls, athletes see their role models
Most girls, need to see it to be it (the WNBA is a perfect example)
Whether it’s basketball or soccer, take your young athletes and let them dream about how they want to play in WNBA
3. Know your Role
Elena Delle Donne was clearly hurting yesterday with her back injury, she played, but knew she wasn’t the star yesterday, she was a role player
They were a few Mystics players that had the hot hand yesterday, they shot 60% from 3 point land
Know your role as a player, sometime it’s to be the scorer and other times to grab rebounds and set screens and get the hot player open
As I wrote on my FB yesterday, being a good teammate will matter more and more as you start playing better competeion
I hope you all watch game 4 on Tuesday night
Have a great week,
